PRE/POST NATAL
We offer yoga, reformer Pilates, and fitness classes from pregnancy through to post birth with your baby on the mat beside you. This gives you a chance to become part of a community, and the women who meet each other at pregnancy classes, often stay on the journey together, coming along to parent and baby classes when their babies are born and hanging around for tea and cake. See below for all classes offered. Please ensure you have had your sign off for exercise from the doctor before coming, usually six weeks for a vagina birth and 12 weeks for a C-section. We also have a monthly baby sleep expert offering free sessions in the cafe, and will be offering other parent and baby workshops (baby feeding, massage, signing, post-natal mental health) from early 2025.
We also have a hypnobirthing workshop for expectant parents, as well as a number of standalone workshops for post birth as part of our Birth, Baby and Beyond programme that will support you through the pre- and post-natal journey and into early parenting, offering nourishment, knowledge, and community.
Upcoming sessions in the series include Baby Sign Language (October), Baby Kirtan, emotional wellbeing, and much more, with tea and cake after to meet other new parents.
In terms of when to start pregnancy classes, we advise that you wait until the end of the first trimester if you haven’t done yoga, barre or reformer Pilates before. If you do have a established practise and you want to keep on coming to your regular classes, please ensure you advise the teacher and check in advance that they are qualified and therefore insured to have pregnant people in their class. If the teacher agrees to you participating in class, please do take responsibility for adjusting your practise (arriving 10 mins early to discuss modifications ideally), and rest whenever you need. If you aren’t sure how to adjust your practise, please do book into a pre-natal class first. If you aren’t sure if you should continue with your practise, please do check with your medical professional before coming to class.
