Train properly. Teach like yourself.
Barre is one of the most highly demanded and popular workouts in the world! The name Barre comes from the use of the stationary barre that is used in Ballet strength and training exercises. However, despite the misconception, barre is not a ballet or dance class!
Barre is a powerful combination of ballet-inspired movements, Pilates, yoga, and strength training. It is a low-impact full-body workout that focuses on smaller and isometric movements and challenges muscles until they fatigue.
Barre is renowned for creating strong, lean and flexible muscles and is wonderful for creating balance, posture, and poise. It is also a very inclusive workout and is suitable for all ages and bodies, including pre and post-natal. Many people find barre a useful workout for injury rehabilitation and prevention.
WHAT YOU NEED:
• Any previous fitness training is useful but not a necessity
• A genuine interest in how people move
• The time to complete the training and independent practice
• A willingness to learn, practise and receive feedback
What you’ll learn
More than a list of exercises
Knowing what movement comes next is not enough. A good teacher also knows how to read the person in front of them, explain something differently when it is not landing, and decide when to progress, adapt or keep things simple.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to:
• Teach Beginner and Open Level Barre classes
• Plan and sequence group classes and one-to-one sessions
• Perform and teach the foundation Barre repertoire
• Cue movement clearly and effectively
• Observe alignment and movement patterns
• Progress or modify exercises for different levels
• Adapt sessions for different bodies, injuries and special populations
• Use props to support, challenge or develop an exercise
• Teach with confidence while still sounding like yourself
On successful completion, you will receive an NCFE-endorsed East of Eden Academy Barre Teacher Training qualification.
